DRIVE: Jazz vs. Optimus Prime

I hate sports during the off-seasons... because I can't watch them.

Anyway, ever since the NBA Playoffs and watching Detroit scrape and claw and grind and knash their way through to a Game 7 in the Finals, I've been contemplating writing this fic. Basically, Autobots + really big basketball = great charity fundraiser event. I've thought my way through several scenarios, some key plays, 'training camp' mishaps, etc. I've created two eight-mech teams and figured out how I want the court set and how the officiating will work. Now, it sits on a mental back burner while I try to finish a few other works before getting distracted by this.

I wrote about this idea in my LJ a few weeks ago, and Pepper - I sooooo blame this on her - she was into the idea and asked if I could write out a scene with Magnus and Optimus facing off for her. Nothing big, just a little scene. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but it made me start seeing them in my head. And I thought 'Well, now I really want to see it', and set forth trying to draw it day before yesterday. Unfortunately, I found that I can not draw Magnus for the life of me and Adam Clayton and Peter Cullen put together. Scratch. So, I thought about doing Optimus and Jazz (pun anyone?). They're on opposing teams for the fic anyway, so it would make sense to see them facing off...

So, here we have Jazz getting ready to 'drive' to the hoop against Optimus Prime.

It's really rough and really dirty - I erased the ever living tree bark out of that damned artsy paper. In total, this is about 13 hours of work, a lot of it consisting of me scanning through my dvd's and pausing on various scenes to get all the right perspectives and angles and good stuff. The dvd player is no longer on speaking terms with me... There's a lot of cleaning up that needs done, which I'll begin on shortly, such as the position of Prime's right arm, it's too low and forward. I'd like to adjust the position of his pelvis, too. (Boy, would I!) Of all, the part that gave me the most problems was Jazz's butt, believe it or not! *laughs* He's got that adorable little metal 'Peter Cottontail' protrusion back there that just gets me so! ^_^ I really don't think I did him justice there. *sigh* Need to work on it some more, too, as well as the back of his right foot.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this, considering drawing/sketching/visual arts of any kind really isn't my forte. I was rather stunned, matter of fact, when I did finally finish last night... or it could have been the eye strain/sore back/headache/late hour (past 4 AM)...

Anyway, when I do get a refined finished product ready for display here, I will have a small scenario written out to accompany it.

Oh, and... *squeeeeeeeeee* ^_^ *is utterly exhilerated* *woot* ^_^
